Prerequisites
Program
- Group exercise at the start of the course:
- Controlling heat radiation and convection in the fire compartment
- Understand the temperature hierarchy in a closed environment
- Adopt protective behavior
- Material resources:
- Mobile training unit specially equipped for fire/evacuation awareness training
- Hazards associated with the operation:
- Heat
-Gases
- Smoke released by a fire
- Suitability of protective equipment to the nature of the incident
- The different extinguishing agents used in portable extinguishers
- Use of extinguishers
- Practical exercises:
- Demonstration and exercise to bring a deep-fryer fire under control.
- Demonstration of how to set up and operate portable extinguishers.
- Individual extinguishing exercise using CO2.
- Individual extinguishing exercise using a water extinguisher on a basket fire.
- Trainees extinguish a gas fire by cutting off the gas supply.
- Explanation and demonstration of how to open a door safely.
- Optional: demonstration of how to set up and operate an RIA (hose reel).
- Fire extinguisher instructions:
- Demonstration of how to set up and operate portable extinguishers.
- Practical fire extinguishing exercises:
- Individual extinguishing exercise using CO2
- Individual extinguishing exercise using a water extinguisher on a basket fire
